Wortle is a young resident of Mossflower where he/she lives with his/her family. He/she is the child of Muskar and Lupinia, and sibling of Bappik, Berrin, Gretty, and Pippat. They are held prisoner by a vermin gang but rescued by Doogy and Yoofus.
