Windpaw is a resident of Salamandastron who greatly cares for Mara and acts as a healer in the Long Patrol. While running to her friends with some fire arrows she is stabbed in the neck by Farran's poison-tipped dagger, and she dies so fast that she does not even have a chance to cry out.
