Vitch is a young slaver in Slagar's gang who infiltrates Redwall to spy on them, specifically Mattimeo, and is allowed inside because the residents think he is a mouse due to his small size. Mattimeo is immediately suspicious and the two often argue, with one incident escalating into a physical fight. He often taunts the young prisoners after they are kidnapped by the vermin, claiming their parents will never save them. He looks up to Slagar despite the masked fox treating him rather cruelly, and like most vermin he is a cowardly bully. Some time later, when the captives go missing, he and Browntooth are ordered to search a river for any signs of them. He hesitantly goes into the water and is stabbed in the footpaw by a dagger from Mattimeo. Upon their arrival at the Kingdom of Malkariss he is betrayed by Slagar who offers him up to serve in the Blackrobe Rats army, but as he is not born in their ranks he is instead made a slave. While he survives the earthquake and collapse of the underground realm, he is spotted by Slagar who throws his bolas when he attempts to run. The weapon wraps itself around Vitch's neck, choking him to death, and Orlando later lowers his body into the ancient well that Slagar falls in.
