Violet - so named because of her violet eyes - is the young Lady of Salamandastron who has a cream-coloured headstripe and enjoys reading about the mountain's history. She has at least two brothers and often turns to Felton for advice as she is a bit inexperienced at her role. After four Long Patrol cadets trick her into allowing them to participate in night guard duty (something young hares are forbidden to do) the aforementioned Major gently chastises her but they decide to leave it as they think the four will learn their lesson due to the cooler weather. The pals are ambushed and viciously murdered by Razzid's crew that night, and the following morning she goes out to investigate. She spots Greenshroud in the distance but despite being quite far away Razzid orders arrows to be launched from the gigantic crossbows, though Violet simply sidesteps the missiles to show the Wearat she possesses no fear. After the corsairs vanish she talks with her Long Patrol officers as she knows something must be done, so she has Rake lead a group to the High North Coast to strike an alliance with the Rogue Crew Sea Otters as they are the only known beasts to have defeated Razzid. Quite some time later she takes a band of cadets on a night patrol, anxious about Rake's return, and during the march three youngsters run into some of Razzid's crew. She helps in chasing the vermin off but they return as they are being pursued by Rake and Skor aboard a commandeered Greenshroud, and after the foes are killed she goes onto the ship for a ride back to her mountain.
