Violet is a resident of Redwall who helps to care for the Dibbuns and keeps historical documents in the Gatehouse. She spots Furff and Mousebabe sneaking up to the Bell Tower and follows them, unaware that Tarul is hiding out waiting for a chance to snatch up a hostage. She arrives just as the babes are attempting to pull the tolling ropes and assists them, accidentally killing Tarul (who has swooped down to kidnap one of the infants) in the process as his outstretched neck is crushed between the twin bells. She is upset over this and says she didn't mean to hurt the raven.
