Vilu Daskar, Captain

Gender: male

Species: stoat

Appears In: The Legend of Luke

Vilu is the Captain of Goreleech who wields two bone-handled weapons, a scimitar and dagger. He is far more intelligent then the average vermin, does not have any stoats in his crew as he thinks they are the most cunning, stays as far away from the Tall Rocks as possible because he secretly fears then, and considers himself to be a gentlebeast even though in reality he is a vicious murderer who does not hesitate to slay his own crew members (as seen when he decapitates Rippjaw). He and his Sea Rogues have a nasty habit of attacking the coast and enslaving innocent creatures, and after launching an ambush on Luke's tribe he gleefully slaughters many of them including the mouse Warrior's wife Sayna before fleeing aboard his ship. A grief-stricken Luke pursues him via Greenhawk (renamed Sayna in his wife's memory) and though it takes many seasons, he eventually catches up to his mortal enemy at the Twin Islands. Vilu often uses the channel located between the islands to destroy any ship that passes by, a trick he performs on Sayna's crew that succeeds in killing some of them. He is immediately attacked by an enraged Luke who tears at his throat, causing a severe injury that Vilu hides by using a cloth. The mouse Warrior is made an oarslave along with his friends, and he engages in a battle of wits against Vilu when he tricks the stoat Captain into thinking there is treasure hidden at their caves. Luke is then chained to the ship's wheel and forced to sail back to his home, only to discover that the caves have been deserted. Vilu mocks him and is tricked yet again when the mouse pretends to surrender, as Luke is secretly planning to sail the ship directly into the Tall Rocks. The stoat realizes this too late and demands he turn around but Luke blocks the wheel he is still chained to, and Vilu becomes trapped in a deadly embrace. He begs for his life and claims that all the oarslaves will be given their freedom, however Luke tells him that all the spirits of those he has slain will finally be able to rest in peace now that his time has come. Goreleech is ripped in half as it strikes the gigantic stone pillars, with the massive red spike being driven deep into the rocks. The ship's stern - along with Vilu, Luke, and the others - sinks to the bottom of the ocean.
