Urgan Nagru the Foxwolf
Gender: male
Species: fox
Appears In: The Bellmaker
Urgan Nagru - true name unknown - is a large resident of the Land of Ice and Snow where he lives with his wife Silvamord and their rat army. While here he discovers a frozen Urgan, skins him, wears the pelt over his own fur, uses the skull for a helmet, and places iron hooks onto the claws so that when he slips in his paws they become powerful weapons. He calls himself the Foxwolf and steals the fox's name, twisting it backwards so that his enemies know he attacks from both the front and back - thus, Urgan Nagru. After becoming tired of his cold home he leads his five hundred rat soldiers to the warmer southern regions where they enter Southsward, and along with his wife he tricks Gael into thinking he is peaceful. The King lets them inside Floret and a few days later he snatches up Truffen, threatening to kill the infant if Gael does not surrender. While ruling the land he often argues with Silvamord and the two appear to almost hate each other, with both sending some rats to spy on the other. He loses two hostages when Serena and Truffen escape with help from Rab's crew, and when he attempts to pursue he is forced back by Muta. He then leads his horde in the chase, brutally murdering Gatchag in front of others when the rat Captain claims the otters are too far away to catch, and later has his Dirgecallers released so they can track the escapees. The two female ermine are killed by Mariel's group and while Nagru manages to capture them, they escape with Gael and Glokkpod to form a barricade in Floret's north tower. He orders his soldiers to attack but several are slain by Glokkpod, and he becomes enraged that they cannot kill the small band. During the Battle of Southsward he gains the upper paw by almost defeating a group led by Gael, however Joseph's army arrives and pushes back. Aware that his horde is losing, Nagru attempts to flee to his ships but is stopped by Finnbarr and the two duel. Despite being just as strong as his opponent, the Foxwolf is defeated when the otter lifts him up and shoves his head into a nearby tree; the force of the impact causes the wolf fangs to dig into his brain, killing him instantly and ending his evil reign.
