Ungatt Trunn - commonly known as just Trunn - is the large leader of the Blue Hordes who originates from the Northlands. He is the son of Mortspear, older brother of Verdauga, uncle of Gingivere and Tsarmina, and distant ancestor of Julian. He mainly wields a trident, holds various titles (including "The Earth Shaker", "The Fearsome Beast", and "Ruler of the Earth" but will not use any title that references his father), and claims to gain all his knowledge from spiders he calls Webmakers. Despite being borderline mentally insane he is intelligent and one of the few known warlords to actually conquer Salamandastron, as well as being physically strong enough to fight and evenly match a fully-grown male badger. At one point he murders Groddil's family and permanently cripples the fox, causing him to secretly hate him and swear revenge, and calls those who are not part of his group "lesser creatures". He uses his hordes' vast numbers to sweep over lands and has them perform various tricks to intimidate those he wants to conquer. After occupying Salamandastron for a while he duels with Brocktree on the shore, ordering Doomeye and Ripfang to climb to the top of the mountain and kill the badger if anything goes wrong during the fight. This plan fails when Doomeye launches an arrow that strikes Brocktree's shoulder instead of his head, and the rat is spotted and killed by Ruff. A paralyzed Trunn is thrown into the sea after Brocktree snaps his spine, and he later washes ashore to where Groddil has been hiding. He begs the fox to save him but instead Groddil pushes his former leader out into the water where he drowns, thus avenging his family's murders.
