Trisscar Swordmaid
(Triss)

Gender: male

Species: squirrel

Appears In: Triss

Trisscar - commonly known as Triss - is a young slave at Riftgard who possibly originates from the Northlands. She is the daughter of Rocc Arrem and often forced to throw turnips into the air so Kurda can practice her sword skills. Along with her pals Shogg and Welfo she plans to escape, though Drufo (who had fought alongside her father many seasons prior) warns her to not attempt anything. After the trio of youngsters are caught they are thrown into a half-submerged punishment cage but use a file to cut through the bars and flee aboard a new ship intended for Bladd and Kurda. Drufo leads a small rebellion meant as a distraction and is killed by the Princess, resulting in Triss vowing revenge. She is later visited by her father and Martin, with the former speaking her full name to her. The trio are near death when they are found by the Peace Island hedgehogs, and Welfo decides to stay here permanently after falling in love with Urtica. Shogg and Triss continue onward as they are being pursued by an enraged Kurda, and they receive assistance from some new friends who succeed in driving off Riggan. They return to the coast where they find that Plugg's crew have commandeered their boat and captured the three Salamandastron runaways, so they retake the boat and free the trio before fleeing back into Mossflower via the River Moss. After meeting up with some GUOSIM members they head to Redwall where she becomes the first known female to wield Martin's sword as well as the first and only known female to be named Abbey Warrior. She participates in defending the place against Plugg's crew and Kurda's soldiers, and after the vermin run off she leads a group in investigating Brockhall. Martin shows her the secret back entrance through a vision but they run into the three resident adders as well as the aforementioned vermin since Kurda has realized that Zassaliss is wearing her grandfather's crown. A battle ensues, however while the three snakes are slain she suffers a terrible loss when Shogg is fatally bitten by Zassaliss and dies in her arms not long after. She attempts to push Sagax away but the young badger refuses, stating that he will be by her side when she returns to Riftgard and free the remaining slaves. She tracks down Kurda who is attempting to desert and they duel, though she doesn't actually kill her mortal enemy as the Princess accidentally slays herself when she trips and falls onto her own broken blade. Triss is initially angry at not exacting her revenge, but her friends remind her that it is not her way to kill an unarmed creature. Some time later she travels back to Riftgard aboard Shogg (the ship she and her two pals had originally fled on from the fortress; she has named the vessel in Shogg's memory) with a group of others where she assists in freeing the rest of the prisoners. She is held back by Sagax as Agarnu is thrown into the sea by his former palanquin bearers, and she later returns to Redwall.
