Toran is the extremely fat Abbey Friar (oddly enough, he is not called a Friar in the book) who wears an apron and dislikes it when somebeast enters his Kitchen. He is the younger brother of Bragoon, very fond of Martha, builds her wheelchair, and is friends with Carrul. During Bol's siege he saves Lonna from being ambushed by Wirga when he kills the female corsair.
