Thwip - derived from, according to Flandor, his main weapon being a whip - is a large (so much so that he struggles to bow to Vilaya) and fat soldier in the Ravagers army who, along with his mate Binta, acts as a jailer in Althier. He is known to be extremely cruel towards the young prisoners, and even Vilaya threatens to hurt him if he continues to be harsh as she wants the hostages kept alive. After a portion of the cavern roof where the captives are held collapses he and Binta desert, running into Mossflower where they are pursued by Zwilt but manage to escape. They encounter Flib who kills him and severely beats Binta until she runs off. It appears as if they care for each other as the vixen mourns for him.
