Tarquin - also known as Tarkers or Tark - is a resident of Salamandastron and member of the Long Patrol through the Westshore Woodsorrel clan. He is the descendant of Bracken, relative of Coltvine, Foghill, Meldrum, Runtwold, and Thurdale, son of Lorquin, husband of Rosie, and father of twelve. He is almost always in a cheerful mood, enjoys playing the harolina (and composing love ditties about Rosie), is considered to be a faithful companion, and possesses a massive appetite. Rawnblade sends him to Redwall in hopes of strengthening the bond between the Abbey and Salamandastron, and while on his way he meets Mariel. The two head to Redwall and he, Dandin, and Durry later joins her on the trip to Terramort despite her reluctance. After participating in the final battle he returns to the Abbey where he and Rosie wed, and become parents to twelve offspring.
