Tamello De Fformelo Tussock, Captain
(Tammo)

Gender: male

Species: hare

Appears In: The Long Patrol

Tamello - better known as Tammo - is a young resident of Camp Tussock where he lives with his family. He is the son of Cornspurrey and Mem, younger brother of Lynum and Saithe, and husband of Pasque. After hearing stories of the Long Patrol from his father he dreams of joining the famous army, though Cornspurrey refuses to let this happen. With his mother's help, he runs away with Russa and they eventually meet a small group of hares led by Perigord. Following some scuffles against Rapscallion soldiers (during one fight, Russa is killed by Rinkul) and the Painted Ones, the group arrives at Redwall where he joins the Council of War with some others after they learn of the approaching vermin army. He is used by Martin's spirit to deliver a message to the Redwallers on how to defeat Damug, so along with Midge he disguises himself as a vermin called "Burfal the Silent One" and infiltrates the camp. As the Abbey's south wall is sinking, they succeed in convincing the Greatrat leader to fight the woodlanders at the Ridge of a Thousand instead. They free a captured Fourdun and, during the ensuing escape, he kills Rinkul as revenge for Russa's murder and also takes back her stick the ferret had taken. He later participates in the final battle and survives, though he is wounded in the leg by a pike which results in a permanent but barely noticeable limp. Not long after he marries Pasque, becomes a respected Captain in the Long Patrol, and earns the admiration of his father.
