This prestigious title is bestowed upon a creature who, according to the Juska clans, is the fiercest and strongest of warriors. In order to become a Taggerung a beast must slay the current Taggerung or be named one by a Seer. In the case of Deyna/Tagg, Grissoul correctly predicts that the Taggerung will have a mark somewhere on their body and the otter does indeed have a birthmark on his paw in the shape of a speedwell flower. Aside from him the only known Taggerungs are Sawney's father and Ruggan Bor.
