Stringle is the only Officer in the Brownrats tribe who also serves as second-in-command. He wields several weapons, responsible for leading the group into battle, and murders Luglug with an arrow while they are pursuing him and Maudie (resulting in Osbil, Luglug's son, to vow revenge). Some time later he is sent out with most of the rats to chase after Vizka's crew, and while doing so he traps Gorath's group on the Plateau. As Kurdly has ordered him to bring Gorath and Salixa's heads back to him on a pike he decides to attack, and not long after he is joined by Vizka who offers to help. Stringle hesitates as he wants to hear from his leader first, unaware that Kurdly has actually been killed by a swan. While pacing around the base of the Plateau he is spotted and killed by an arrow between the eyes from Osbil. The leaderless Brownrats are then forced to follow Vizka.
