Springald is a young resident of Redwall where she lives with her friends Fenna and Horty, and like them she is slightly immature. She joins Bragoon and Saro on the trip to Loamhedge's ancient remains, gains a different outlook on life during the journey, and participates in the Battle of the Abyss until she and her friends are forced to leave by Bragoon and Saro. She returns to Redwall having matured greatly, and later becomes Abbey Recorder.
