Spingo is a young and pretty member of the Gonfelin Thieves who lives with them in Mossflower. She is the distant descendant of Bryony, Columbine, Dandin, Gonff, and Gonff II, distant relative of Samolus, daughter of Nokko and Filgo, sister of Bumbo, Gobbo, and Tingo, wife of Bisky, and mother of Andio. She wields numerous weapons, having been taught by her father in her Dibbunhood, and can easily cut through a turnip with one swift swing of her strangling noose. She first meets Bisky after he escapes from the Painted Ones, they befriend each other, and she assists the GUOSIM and Redwallers when they are ambushed by the vermin tribe. She participates in rescuing Dwink from being killed by Jeg, and she later works with Bisky to find Dubble when he vanishes while pursuing the rat. They find him digging with Zaran at the Doomwyte lair, however while helping with this she becomes buried alive when the tunnel collapses and receives air through two small holes. Bisky and Dubble race back to Redwall for reinforcements, with Zaran staying at the hillside to offer her encouragement. While trapped the mousemaid dreams of Bisky, her tribe, and a voice that tells her to "live to enjoy life at my Abbey with one who cares for you". She plummets into the cavern when Skurpul's crew accidentally collapses the earth even more but is rescued by a Bloodwrath-afflicted Bisky, and after Skurr's death she moves to Redwall where she starts a family with him.
