This tribe of sparrows resides in the Abbey Roof and, during the Late Rose Summer Wars, are led by Bull (prior to him, Bloodfeather is the ruler). They are extremely aggressive towards any intruders, often refer to others as "worms", enjoy a gambling game called Three Feathers, are known to be skilled fighters, and speak in a language that is difficult to comprehend. When a Sparra member dies, their body is covered with leaves. Initially they and the Redwallers do not bother each other, however after Bull's death and Cluny's arrival in Mossflower the two sides come together to defeat the latter under the wise leadership of Warbeak (who has succeeded her deceased uncle as Queen, thus their home becomes known as Warbeak Loft). A dying Mortimer declares that the birds must be allowed to come and go throughout Redwall as they wish, and over the next eight seasons they live in harmony with the Abbey inhabitants. During the events of Mattimeo, Warbeak leads most of her tribe in delivering a vital message to Matthias's group that will help them greatly on their quest to search for the kidnapped youngsters. Those who do not join her - the old, young, and ill - are brutally slaughtered by Ironbeak's flock when they invade Redwall. This, coupled with the deaths of Warbeak and most of her fellow sparrows during the Battle of the Longtail Horde, almost decimates the tribe but the survivors return to Redwall where they rebuild with Harry as their new leader. The Sparra have not appeared or been mentioned since, though in an interview Mr. Jacques confirmed they continue to peacefully reside at the Abbey.
