This small band of young vermin is led by Snaggs and live in a cave near Mossflower's coast. They have a nasty habit of capturing innocent travelers and forcing them into slavery, killing them if they attempt to escape. After murdering Posy's parents they take her hostage and make her cook their meals, and they later catch Uggo. The two hedgehogs succeed in convincing Snaggs to let them fish one morning, though Jonder and Wigga are sent along to watch them. Posy and Uggo head far into the water as they know the two guards are scared, and upon spotting Jum's logboat the two hedgehogs run. Wigga attempts to swim after them but is slain by four Whoomers who have joined Jum to help. Jonder gathers the rest of the band but they fail in trying to drive the seals away.
