Snaggs is the old leader of a small vermin gang in Mossflower and wields a stave. He has a nasty habit of capturing innocent woodlanders and enslaving them, killing any who attempt to escape. The gang slays Posy's parents and make her cook all the meals, with the young hogmaid later being joined by Uggo after he is caught. The two are rescued by Jum and the Whoomers, with the latter playing with any weapons the vermin throw at them.
