Slipback - possibly named because the majority of his back fur is missing - is a spear-wielding resident of the Northlands and, along with his mate Juppa, member of Burrad's band. After Badredd takes control of the band his remarks quickly anger the fox, who chops off his tail as punishment. This causes him to hold even more resentment, and he works with Flinky in an attempt to assassinate Badredd but the plan fails. He flees south with the band after they escape from Redwall.
