Sleeve is a young orphaned slave at Riftgard and born here, having lost her parents some seasons ago. She is the wife of Kroova, adoptive mother of Freedom, and friends with Drufo (who teaches her to write) and Triss. When the latter escapes she assists in a small rebellion that is actually a distraction, thus allowing the three runaways to flee. During the final battle at Riftgard she is almost killed by Hydrad but rescued when Kroova steps in and slays him. She stays with him and Freedom at the liberated fortress and documents the battle and Agarnu's defeat, giving her writings to Skipper who then bring them to Redwall.
