Skor Axehound, Lord
Gender: male
Species: sea otter
Appears In: The Rogue Crew
Skor - an Old Norse word for a crack - is the large, bearded, and green-eyed leader of the Rogue Crew Sea Otters who lives with them on the High North Coast. He is the father of Ruggan and Swiffo, has a big chest, wears a chain-mail tunic with a cloak made from vermin skins, considered to be one of the strongest otters in the area, and expertly wields a double-headed battleaxe. Like the others he slays vermin without any hesitation, and is a fearsome fighter. He aids in fighting Razzid's crew when they attempt an ambush, and while the corsairs manage to escape Skor knows they will return. This comes true many seasons later, however he is surprised when Razzid suddenly turns around Greenshroud and sails off. After meeting Rake's group and learning that the ship now possesses four huge wheels, he realizes that Razzid turned around because he is planning on attacking Redwall. The two sides form an alliance in hopes of defeating the evil Wearat, eventually reaching the River Moss where they find the GUOSIM have been ambushed by the corsairs resulting in numerous casualties. He is told that his son Swiffo had been with the shrews but is now missing, and Skor leads the group away to find him as he is terribly worried. They find Swiffo and some surviving GUOSIM being threatened by Ketral's band, but while the otters and hares succeed in sending the vermin packing they return not long after with reinforcements. Skor desperately wants to stay and fight but is forced to head into a cave system the vermin are scared of, and later helps to capture Viglat. He force-feeds the ferret hotroot soup so he can lead them to Redwall, but during the trip Viglat escapes. The ferret finds Ketral, tells him where the woodlanders are, and they are attacked by the fox who kills Swiffo with a poison dart. A grieving Skor attempts to pursue them but gets winded easily, thus Ruggan chases after and slays both Ketral and Viglat. Upon arriving at the Abbey he helps Rake to prepare a defense plan and participates in the final battle, though he doesn't get to kill Razzid as he is slain by Jum and Posy. After the gruesome fight he and Rake take a commandeered Greenshroud and use her to kill any corsairs who escaped. At some point he presumably leads his crew back to their home.
