Skipper is the well-built leader of Mossflower otters who wields a javelin and sling. After leaving his crew at a waterfall he meets Janglur's family and Log a Log while they are traveling to Redwall, joining them on the trip. He assists in defending the Abbey against the Marlfoxes, and while scouting around Redwall he is wounded by one of Raventail's ferrets just before they attack, retreating into Mossflower to heal himself. He gathers reinforcements and returns to the Abbey during the final battle, killing Vannan with a well-aimed javelin.
