Skalrag is a Captain in Badrang's army who lives at Marshank and also serves as his aide. He wields several weapons and, like most foxes, is quite sly. One of his responsibilities is to tell the stoat Tyrant about the day-to-day happenings, so to achieve this he hires Druwp to spy amongst the slaves; as a reward the vole is given food and drink, and Skalrag is often surprised at just how much he knows. He is one of the Slavedrivers at the fortress and is struck in the head by a stone from Felldoh, losing half an ear to the missile. During an attack by Clogg, he is ordered to take a group of archers to the bay where Seascarab is anchored and burn her, however while this is successful he is captured by the corsair. He promises Clogg to spy on Badrang in exchange for his life, but upon being returned to Marshank he is slain by a suspicious Badrang who hangs him above the main gates and allows his soldiers to use the fox as target practice. It is said that his body is riddled with so many arrows it resembles a pincushion. In the television series, Skalrag is hung above the gates and tickled until he falls to his death.
