Scaut is a well-built Weilmark in Felis's army who has ginger fur and acts as Captain of the Guard. He wields a dagger and whip, hated by both slaves and his fellow cats for being quite sadistic, and strongly supports Felis mainly because he is secretly terrified of the warlord. Upon realizing that his leader is losing the war against the otterclans, he deserts north with a small group of others and eventually reaches Pitru's camp on the rim of Deeplough. He becomes a slave as the younger cat despises him, and while his death is not specifically mentioned he is presumably killed in the final battle.
