Saxtus is a young resident of Redwall who lives here with his friends Dandin and Durry. He wields a sling and spear during the ongoing struggle against Greypatch's crew, initially struggling to understand war until Clary's group explains it: when a creature's way of life is threatened, often killing foebeasts is necessary to preserve freedom and peace. At one point he serves as Abbey Recorder, and in adulthood he becomes Abbot. He is still ruling when Aubretia and Bultip travel to Redwall to tell Martin's story, and he later becomes friends with Joseph, Rufe, and Simeon. He is succeeded by Vale.
