Sarobando - better known as Saro - is an aging resident of Redwall who lives here with her best friend Bragoon. She and the otter are considered to be very rascally in their Dibbunhood. After leaving the Abbey in their young seasons they search for adventures, and whenever they encounter vermin he dresses up as a "ferroat" (a cross between a ferret and stoat) so that his pal can secretly steal food; they perform this trick on Burrad's band who has heard of them and, like others, consider them to be legendary. Following many seasons of various adventures they return to Redwall where they learn of Martha's mysterious paralysis and volunteer to travel to Loamhedge's ancient remains which supposedly holds a cure. The two old warriors eventually find themselves in the company of Fenna, Horty, and Springald, who decide to join them, and the entire group reaches Loamhedge's remains where they locate no cure. As to not disappoint Martha, she and Bragoon quickly write a poem about how the young haremaid can find the strength within herself to walk. While starting on the trip back to Redwall they meet Kharanjul's army on the bridge that spans the Abyss, and a battle ensues. The fight ends when she and Bragppn push the bridge into the massive gorge, sending the vermin army to their deaths, however both have suffered fatal injuries. They die alongside each other on the cliffside, holding paws and saying they will meet each other at the "sunny slopes and quiet streams".
