Sabretache - also known as 'Tache - is a resident of Salamandastron and Officer in the Long Patrol who expertly wields a sabre. He commands the hares during battle against Swartt's horde and leads a group to help a trapped Sunflash. During an attack at the mountain he challenges Zigu to single combat after the ferret (an ally of Swartt) brutally murders an unarmed Fordpetal. The creatures who are fighting momentarily stop to watch the two duel, and Zigu is eventually forced to trickery in hopes of defeating his foe. Thanks to his excellent skills, the hare Officer traps him against a rock and the ferret begs for mercy. Sabretache refuses, questioning why he is pleading for his life when only moments before he slew a defenceless beast, then kills Zigu.
