Reguba is a resident of Redwall where he lives with his son Dann, having moved here after his wife passes away. He is a stern creature who takes great pride in his family name, often forcing this upon Dann, and has fought alongside Janglur several times. The two are reunited when the Swifteye family arrive at the Abbey after meeting a pair of Marlfoxes in Mossflower, and together they conceive a plan to rescue a captured Dwopple. During this successful mission, Dann and his two pals (Dippler and Song respectively) are guarding Martin's tapestry when they are attacked by vermin who kill Nutwing and steal the tapestry. Rusvul becomes enraged at his son for allowing such a thing to happen, calling him a coward in front of the other inhabitants before leaving. Janglur later chides him, saying that as parents it is their responsibility to encourage their children and that he is a fool for getting angry at Dann. When the youngster takes Martin's sword and heads off with his friends to retrieve the tapestry, Rusvul blames himself and regrets his actions. During his son's absence, he plays a big role in defending the Abbey against the Marlfoxes who are determined to conquer the ancient place. He works with Janglur to thwart their numerous assaults, and although the vermin manage to breach the main gate one night the two squirrels lead an attack. He is later reunited with Dann and immediately apologizes, saying that he is incredibly proud of him.
