Ruggum is a rascally Dibbun of Redwall and, along with his best friend Bikkle, DAB ringleader. The two flee into Mossflower one evening and end up wandering around lost until they find an ancient door, hiding in it when rain starts to come down; during this time they unknowingly rediscover Brockhall. They are terrified to see the skeletal remains of Berussca and Sarengo, running away until they are found by Groo and Skipper who bring them to Redwall. He hands the adults a gold pawring he found inside the ancient place, and the script etched into this ring is eventually solved by the Redwallers which allows them to find Brockhall's secret rear entrance. In adulthood he and Bikkle become Abbey Bellringers.
