Rockbottom is a small resident of the Land of Ice and Snow, where he is known as the Walking Stone and considered to be a symbol of authority. He is stolen by Askor who then flees from his pursuing brother Gulo, and the former hides him in Mossflower until Yoofus discovers him and takes him to his home where he and Didjety raise him as their pet. Like other reptiles in the series he cannot speak but understands what is being said to him, replying by nodding or smiling.
