Rocc is a presumed resident of the Northlands where he lives with his daughter Triss (his mate is never mentioned) until they are captured by Ratguard soldiers. He is best friends with Drufo, considered to be the most skilled swordbeast, and ambushed by thirty rats who fire many arrows into his body. Despite this he snaps his blade and throws it at them, bravely fighting until his last breath. It is revealed that the Pure Ferrets ordered his death because they feared him, and he later appears in one of Triss's dreams where he calls her by her full name.
