Rocangus is a young member of his father Mactalon's tribe who lives with them in the Northern Mountains, and presumably related to the others as they can each other "clanbirds". After suffering a fractured wing in a battle against some crows he is found by Dumble and Thrugg, with the latter splinting his injury. He joins them on the search for the Flowers of Icetor, which are located around MacPhearsome's home slightly higher up in the mountains than where his clan resides. While the trio are sneaking through a forest as to not alert by the crows who live here, Dumble accidentally steps on a thistle and cries out in pain. They are immediately attacked and succeed in fending them off, however the birds return with larger numbers. Tammbeak, one of the clan scouts, spots them and flies off to gather the rest of the falcons. Thanks to their help, Rocangus and his pals head to the mountains where they gather the precious flowers. He accompanies the two on the trip back to Redwall and, during a celebratory feast, regains the ability to fly.
