Riftgard Fortress

This large stone fortress is located on the edge of a fjord near mountains in the far north, and is ruled by the Pure Ferrets. It is partly bordered by pine forests and also home to woodlander slaves who are cruelly whipped by the Ratguard soldiers, an elite force of rats that serve the ferrets. Triss's group frees the prisoners and kills Agarnu, thus freeing the place and it becomes a Redwall-like home led by Kroova and Mokug. "Rift" is the Old Germanic English term for a cloak or curtain, and "gard" is the Old Saxon term for countryside.
