Rekaby is the older silver-furred leader of the Fortunate Freepaws and, like them, does not carry any weapons. He travels around with the group searching for any wounded creatures to help, and he meets Posy and Uggo after they escape from Greenshroud. Along with some others he leads them into a marsh where he successfully convinces a fearsome Sircolo to help them, and after they are out of the area he leaves the young hedgehogs with the GUOSIM so he can rejoin his band but not before taking a captured Voogal with him as he plans on teaching the ferret some proper manners. Following the horrific ambush by Razzid's crew that sees many GUOSIM shrews slain, he and his band tend to the injured and they later join Jum on the trip to Redwall where they arrive just in time to see the corsairs defeated.
