Redwall Abbey

Appears In: every book except Lord Brocktree

This ancient Abbey is located in Mossflower and takes more than twenty seasons to construct It is built from red sandstone found in the Quarry and rests almost atop Kotir's ruins. During the Great Mossflower War, Germaine (who has come to the woodlands with other survivors of Loamhedge's horrific plague) draws blueprints of what she dreams of being a new home for peaceful creatures. She is its first Abbess, and the co-founder Martin is its first Warrior. The name "Redwall" is derived from the rosy hue the walls give off when struck by sunlight, and also because of the sandstone colour. It is home to many woodlander species, all of whom play a vital role in its daily upkeep, infants are known as Dibbuns, and an Abbot or Abbess often rules. Some have a specific role such as Friar, Bellringer, Gatekeeper, and Cellarkeeper. While its residents value peace, they do not hesitate to fight in the name of freedom. The famous tapestry of Martin the Warrior can be found within Great Hall, and it is believed that his very spirit rests in the stones as well as this magnificent piece. Redwall Abbey stands as a symbol of hope and prosperity, and has been around for innumerable generations. Despite many a warlord attempting to conquer it, it continues to soar above Mossflower and will do so for time immoral.
