Rasconza is the only fox resident of Sampetra who collects daggers and keeps at least ten on himself at all times, though he can expertly throw them when necessary. He is intelligent, power-hungry, physically strong, and initially serves as Bloodkeel bosun until he is named Captain after Slashback's death. During the Battle at Sampetra's East Cove he saves Barranca but then secretly kills him just as some Trident-rat soldiers are running by to make it appear as if they murder the stoat, and becomes the rebellion's new leader. He feigns friendliness with Ublaz (who also does the same thing) and plots against the Emperor. After some Trident-rats are "accidentally" killed when they are named Captains of ships, he is promoted to Captain-in-Chief of the vessels by Ublaz and allowed to take Bloodkeel on a plundering mission. This is actually a trick by the Emperor who has purposely sabotaged the ship in hopes of finally getting rid of Rasconza, but the fox survives and gathers other corsairs into an army he calls the Wave Brethren. They then launch a huge rebellion against Ublaz, and a duel of wits between both leaders erupts with Rasconza often coming out on top. During the final battle he spots the ships ablaze thanks to Martin II's group and attempts to keep his fellow corsairs from fleeing but fails. Only Sagitar (a known traitor) stays back, and an angry Rasconza fatally wounds her with a thrown dagger upon deciding the entire mess is her fault. As he hovers over her she says something, and when he leans down to hear her better she grabs her nearby trident and kills him with a single thrust.
