Rapscallions
Species: vermin
Appear In: The Long Patrol
This vermin army of at least one thousand fighters is initially led by Gormad, then his son Damug. These two creatures are Greatrats, the only species that can lead the horde. The means in which they travel is determined by the Throwing of the Sword ceremony, an event where the Rapscallion Sword is tossed into the air; if it lands on the wavy side (sea) the the army boards a ship, and if it lands on the flat side (land) then they travel inland. A Rapmark is a Captain who each lead one hundred soldiers, and a Rapscour is a scout who leads twoscore fighters. Despite their numbers they are defeated by the woodlanders at the Battle of the Ridge of a Thousand. The only two confirmed survivors are Lousewort and Sneezewort, as they desert prior to the final fight.
