Rab - named in honour of fan Robert Adam Banagale - is a resident of Southsward and leader of the Southsward Holt of Otters who wields several weapons. He is the husband of Iris, presumed ancestor of the Streambattle clan from Green Isle, and leaves with his crew after Gael fails to heed his warning about falling for Nagrus's trickery. After the land is conquered by the Foxwolf he fights the rat army alongside Muta so that the royal family can safely escape, and while the two escape they are severely injured. While Iris believes him to be dead, he is actually being cared for by Egbert but cannot speak. Along with Muta he later helps to recapture the Gatehouse and, upon reuniting with his wife and hearing her call his name, regains the power of speech. During the Battle of Southsward he leaps into the moat after Silvamord when she attempts to escape, killing the vixen by presumably drowning her.
