Quickbill is a member of Ironbeak's flock who, along with his brothers Brightback and Diptail, acts as a forager as well as a scout. As he is the strongest he is considered to be the leader of the trio, and it is he who finds Redwall. They all originate from the Northlands and because of their importance they are targeted by the Redwallers, with the woodlanders capturing all three siblings to use as hostages for the safe return of three kidnapped inhabitants (Cornflower, Mrs. Churchmouse, and Rollo respectively). In the final battle one of the brothers is killed (not known which one) and the surviving birds are outfitted with a special collar that prohibits them from flying too high before being sent off by Stryk.
