Plumnose - so named because of his very large nose - is the only ferret in Burrad's band who, like them, originates from the Northlands. He is good friends with Halfchop and the one beast who can understand the rat after he is struck in the head by Junty's barrel bung which results in him only being able to say "Kachunk!" (the sound the bung makes as it hits his skull). Although his large nose gives him a nasally-sounding voice it also blesses him with an incredibly sense of smell, allowing him to be an expert tracker. When the band attacks Redwall and are assaulted by pepper bombs, he suffers the worst as the smell irritates his nostrils so much that he purposely sits outside during a storm to flush his sinuses out. He later flees south with the gang.
