Plugtail - so named because of his extremely short tail - is a young member of Groffgut's gang and knocked out by a stone from Tiria's sling but survives. Some time later the band attempts to sneak inside Redwall by climbing on each other's shoulders so they can reach the wall, however they are spotted by Lycian who throws her teapot at them and it becomes briefly stuck on his head. Along with Frogeye he is eaten by the massive gannet that is forced outside the Abbey gates.
