Pearls of Lutra

These six pearls are kept in a scallop-shell case and belong to Lutra's holt. They are perfect spheres with a rosy hue to them, and a lot of corsairs (they refer to them as "Tears of all Oceans") wish to own them. The pearls are stolen by Conva - he and his crew slaughter the entire holt except for Grath - upon orders from Ublaz, who wants them for his crown, however Flairnose and Graylunk snag them and run off into Mossflower. The two weasels end up arguing and mortally wound each other, though Graylunk manages to make his way to Redwall where he befriends Fermald. After he wanders back into Mossflower to die she hides the six pearls around the Abbey, knowing that corsairs are searching for the precious objects, and leaves a small but difficult riddle with each that will reveal the next location upon being solved. All six are eventually found by a group of Redwallers as the pearls are needed to rescue a captured Durral and Viola, but as both are saved Tansy throws the pearls into the sea so that they can never again cause harm or grief to any creature.
