Oxeye - referring to flowers in the aster and daisy families - is a large resident of Salamandastron and Lieutenant in the Long Patrol who earns the nickname "Big Oxeye" due to his size. He wields a lance and spear, and heads out with two others (Pennybright and Sapwood respectively) to spy on a retreating Corpsemakers army. This is actually a planned move by Klitch to gain hostages, and he and Sapwood are captured. They are tied up in the sea but the water eventually loosens their ropes and he swims back to Salamandastron for supplies. He later participates in the final battle.
