Olav is a resident of an unknown place and member of the Skyfurrow skein who use Salamandastron as a guide to find the sea. He is the presumed ancestor of Brantalis and, while lying injured in Mossflower, found by Sable Brock. In return he gives her directions to the mountain fortress, and these are used by Martin's group and Boar many seasons later.
