Nubbs is an old resident of Salamandastron and Sergeant in the Long Patrol who holds the title of Champion Boxer for many seasons. He joins Rake on the trip to strike an alliance with the Rogue Crew Sea Otters in hopes of finally defeating Razzid, and while he can be strict at times he also comforts the younger hares as seen when he talks to Wilbee after Bribbs's untimely death. While visiting Redwall he reveals how he sometimes dreams of leading a peaceful life.
