Nokko is the leader of the Gonfelin Thieves tribe who live in Mossflower. He is the descendant of Bryony, Columbine, Dandin, Gonff, and Gonff II, distant relative of Samolus, husband of many wives including Filgo and Fraggo, father of Bumbo, Gobbo, Spingo, and Tingo, father-in-law of Bisky, grandfather of Andio, and wields an axe and sandbag. According to him, his ancestors were banished from Redwall for constant thievery but openly admits he and his tribe enjoy stealing, and that while he has many wives and children his favourite offspring is Spingo (whom he trains to expertly use a strangling noose). After kidnapping Bisky and Dubble he initially thinks they are vermin but lets them go upon realizing they are friends and attempting to escape from the Painted Ones. He leads his group in attacking the vermin who are assaulting the GUOSIM and some Redwallers, joining the other woodlanders on the trip to the Abbey where he comically refers to Glisam as "Abbo". He participates in the search for the missing Great Doomwyte Idol jewels, though he is suspected of stealing one of the emeralds after its discovery. It is found to be a ploy by Tugga who had strategically placed the Chieftain's sandbag before snatching the jewel himself; this stems from Tugga seeking revenge against Nokko as the mouse knocking him unconscious while he tried to stop the Log a Log from hurting Dwink as well as throwing insults at him. It is later revealed that his ancestors stole the last jewel and he somewhat hesitantly gives it to Glisam. He participates in the final battle at the Doomwyte cavern and while it is not specifically mentioned, he and his tribe presumably move to Redwall.
