Nightshade is a Seer in Swartt's horde who feels it is her destiny to follow the younger ferret even though he doesn't treat her kindly. She often gives him advice and plays a big role in defeating Balefur and conquering a murdered Bowfleg's army, later telling her leader to travel to Bat Mountpit while she and some archers will deal with Sunflash's group. At one point she spots Skarlath flying above the camp and, knowing the kestrel is spying on them, slays him with a poison arrow. An enraged Sunflash who is not far behind pursues and crushes her to death.
