Nettlebud is a young and well-built resident of an unknown place who lives with her parents Soll and Beechtip. When she is a babe they are attacked by Marlfoxes who kill her mother and kidnap her, taking the infant to Marlfox Island where she is made a slave. She grows up to be one of the ringleaders, kills Ullig during the final battle, and hurls her chain at Mokkan when he attempts to escape via boat; the chain wraps itself around the Marlfox's neck and pulls him into the lake where he is instantly eaten by the Teeth of the Deeps. She later travels to Redwall with the Four Chieftains and reunites with Soll along the way.
